Understanding Quordle
Quordle is hosted here on the Merriam-Webster platform, with a new puzzle released each day.
This game offers a unique spin on the popular Wordle format from the New York Times, where players have a set number of attempts to uncover a five-letter secret word. In Quordle, you’re tasked with solving four separate puzzles all at once, with each of your guesses impacting all four grids simultaneously. Given its heightened level of challenge, Quordle provides you nine attempts (or twelve in “Chill” mode and eight in “Extreme” mode), as opposed to the six available in Wordle.
To kick things off, input a five-letter word. The letters will change color based on their accuracy: green indicates a correct letter in the right spot, yellow signifies a correct letter in the wrong position, and gray reveals that the letter is absent from the target word.

Steps Taken to Solve Today’s Quordle
Commencing with SLATE, the next guess was MOUND. Progress was substantial in the lower left quadrant. ANKLE didn’t make the cut, but LANCE was the answer that emerged.
The lower left was elusive; possibly RUSTY? Close but no cigar! BUSTY or GUSTY? Perhaps.
Focusing on the upper right, RABBI seems promising. That’s right.
GUSTY fits nicely for the bottom left—seemed friendlier. What a relief!
One last puzzle remains, but options are scant. Aiming for clarification, PIECE could help, but nothing clicked. A random guess, DICED, was entered to explore.
Finally, it clicked: CHIDE.
