At this stage of life, a well-prepared packing list is an indispensable companion for any journey. The last item on that list, though it holds great significance, is my entertainment selection. This addition feels like a well-deserved treat. After ensuring all my clothing and medications are stowed away, I indulge myself by settling down with my iPad to download my go-to shows for in-flight viewing. However, the enthusiasm wanes when it transforms into a tedious task of downloading episodes one by one.

This tedious process is alleviated thanks to Netflix’s latest enhancement for iPhone and iPad users. Following an update to the app, fans can now discover a “Download Season” button accompanying the share icon on their favorite show’s display page. While Android users have been enjoying this feature for a while, Apple users can finally join in on the fun.

The button is represented by a downward-pointing arrow with two curved lines beneath it. Simply tapping this icon triggers an immediate download of an entire season, complete with a progress bar to keep track of the download status. This new addition not only streamlines the downloading process by reducing the number of taps required but also allows users to engage in other activities while their shows are downloading, rather than waiting for each episode to finish sequentially.

It’s important to note that although it was previously possible to download multiple episodes at once by tapping the download option next to each episode quickly, this method often resulted in errors. Fortunately, when using the new button to download season 2 of Squid Game, there were no hitches, and the downloads appeared to execute more swiftly; likely due to the streamlined process of sending a single request to Netflix’s servers instead of numerous ones.

While Netflix has not clarified the protocol for situations where downloading an entire season might exceed the allowed download quota, experimentation reveals that users can still utilize the “Download Season” button. It will only download as many episodes as the remaining limit permits, without proceeding to download any additional episodes beyond that limit.
