Maximizing Your Benefits for Amazon Prime Day 2024
To fully enjoy the upcoming Amazon Prime Day, it is essential to hold an Amazon Prime membership. This costs $139 annually or $14.99 on a monthly basis. The advantages of being a Prime member are numerous, including expedited delivery on countless items and the ability to stream through Prime Video. However, a lesser-known feature allows you to extend these member benefits to your family, all while only incurring one membership fee. You can invite one other adult, as well as up to four teenagers and four children to join your Amazon Household. This setup allows every household member to benefit from the standard perks of the service. It’s important to note that “Household” is a flexible term; participants can maintain their independent Amazon accounts and share Prime advantages, without the necessity of residing together.
Sharing Amazon Prime Benefits with Family
First, ensure that you have an Amazon account along with a Prime subscription. If you are not yet a member, here’s how to enroll in Amazon Prime. After logging in, navigate to the Amazon Household page. You can find it by clicking on Prime Membership from the main menu, where you can choose to Add Adult, Add Teen, or Add Child, depending on which individuals you wish to include.
If adding an adult, you will need to provide their name as well as the email associated with their Amazon account. Following this, you will be requested to agree to share payment methods and select which types of contents—like apps, audiobooks, or e-books—you wish to allow sharing for. Amazon will inform you if any household member moves one of your payment methods into their own wallet.
Your family member will then receive an email invitation to join your Household. To accept, they must click on Get Prime Benefits and follow the instructions to agree to wallet sharing, which may also involve cancelling their current Prime membership if applicable. Invitations have a validity of 14 days. Should the invitee lack an Amazon account, they can easily set up one during this process.
For teenagers aged 13 to 17 or children aged 12 and under, setting up a profile for them is necessary. The process for teens includes determining the level of order review and approval, and selecting a payment method. Note that children cannot make purchases on Amazon, though they can access Amazon Kids content and features.
Important Limitations to Consider
Here are a few restrictions to keep in mind:
-
The Amazon Household can accommodate a maximum of two adults, along with up to four teens and up to four children.
-
Household members must reside in the same country, although they do not need to share the same specific address.
-
If an adult exits an Amazon Household, neither of the adults can join a different Household for a duration of 180 days.
Should you need to remove someone from your Household, this can be easily done through the Manage Your Household page.
