Instagram has rolled out an exciting new feature that tailors Reels feeds for users and their friends. This innovative option, known as “Blend,” is invite-only and can be found within individual or group chats. It refreshes on a daily basis, curating content that aligns with the interests of the participants.

In a similar vein, Spotify also offers a Blend feature which presents shared playlists that are updated each day based on the musical preferences of its listeners. However, it’s worth noting that Instagram’s Blend is exclusively available on mobile devices and may not be accessible to all users, despite the presence of its icon in the chat interface.

How to Utilize Instagram Blend

Launching a blend begins by inviting other users via a one-on-one or group chat. To do this, access the desired chat on the mobile app and tap on the Blend icon. An invitation will be sent to all chat members, and if at least one person accepts, the blend will come into existence. However, an individual’s suggested Reels will only be included if they accept the invite.

Once the blend is established, it can be accessed by tapping the Blend icon located at the top of the chat interface. Here, users can express their thoughts or reactions. If a suggested reel is not to your liking, you can easily remove it by clicking on the three horizontal dots and selecting Remove from your blends. Take note that this action will remove the reel from all blends you are participating in. To exit a blend, simply navigate to it and tap on Settings > Leave this blend.

As detailed on Instagram’s help page, users can also refine their content suggestions by indicating their preferences. Simply select whether you’re interested or uninterested (by tapping the three horizontal dots on the reel) to adjust the types of content you see. Additionally, any sensitive content will be filtered according to the strictest settings of the group member.
