  • Green category – These are typically located in the vicinity of candy, gum, and magazines.

Categories in today’s Connections

  • Yellow: PRINTED NOTIFICATION

  • Green: SEEN AT A GROCERY CHECKOUT COUNTER

  • Blue: ITEMS WITH TABS

  • Purple: PALM ___

DOUBLE WARNING: THE SOLUTION IS BELOW

Ready to uncover the answers for today’s Connections puzzle? The entire solution is shared below.

Yellow Words in Today’s Connections

The yellow category is perceived as the most straightforward. The theme for this grouping is PRINTED NOTIFICATION, and the words are: ANNOUNCEMENT, BULLETIN, NOTICE, POSTER.

Green Words in Today’s Connections

The green category is regarded as the second easiest. Its theme, SEEN AT A GROCERY CHECKOUT COUNTER, includes: CONVEYOR BELT, REGISTER, SCALE, SCANNER.

Blue Words in Today’s Connections

The blue category is the second hardest. Its theme, ITEMS WITH TABS, features the words: BROWSER, FOLDER, KEYBOARD, SODA CAN.

Purple Words in today’s Connections

The purple category is considered the toughest. Its theme, PALM ___, includes: BEACH, READER, SUNDAY, TREE.

Strategies for Solving Today’s Connections

Identifying a category related to technology products (SCANNER, BROWSER, FOLDER, KEYBOARD) and another tied to news (POSTER, NOTICE, BULLETIN, ANNOUNCEMENT) becomes apparent.

While uncertain about the technology category, the news grouping feels accurate: POSTER, NOTICE, BULLETIN, ANNOUNCEMENT. 🟨

Items like BEACH and BROWSER seem like they could reference characters from a game, yet the connection isn’t immediately clear. However, considering SODA CAN, KEYBOARD, and FOLDER as items with “tabs” reveals a useful direction. The fourth item here is indeed BROWSER, which aligns with the grouping.

While REGISTER conjures imagery of a cash register, this puzzle lacks cash-related words. However, thinking of SCALE and CONVEYOR BELT as items associated with grocery store operations aligns well—as do the other related terms.

As for BEACH, SUNDAY, TREE, and READER, READER may evoke Reader’s Digest but doesn’t seem to fit with the rest. BEACH and SUNDAY certainly suggest leisure and relaxation, yet the connections remain elusive.

It’s only after contemplating PALM ___ that clarity emerges: PALM Beach is a Florida location; a PALM reader interprets hand lines; PALM Sunday precedes Easter; and a PALM tree is common by coastlines.

How to Engage with Connections

For those unfamiliar, a comprehensive guide to Connections is available, but here’s a brief reminder of the gameplay:

Begin by accessing the Connections game, either on the New York Times website or within their Games app (formerly known as the Crossword app). The game board consists of 16 tiles, each displaying a word or phrase. Your challenge is to select a group of four tiles that share a common link. Often, they belong to the same category (e.g., RAIN, SLEET, HAIL, and SNOW are all types of precipitation), but sometimes a clever play on words will be involved (for example, BUCKET, GUEST, TOP TEN, and WISH represent types of lists).

Select four items and press the Submit button. A correct guess will reveal the category and color (from yellow to purple, in increasing difficulty). If incorrect, you’ll have an opportunity to try again.

Victory is yours when you correctly identify all four groupings, yet be mindful—four mistakes will conclude the game and reveal the answers.

Winning Strategies for Connections

To score success in Connections, it’s crucial to recognize that the groupings are specifically crafted to challenge players. Be prepared for overlapping categories. For instance, a previous puzzle featured six breakfast items: BACON, EGG, PANCAKE, OMELET, WAFFLE, and CEREAL. Interestingly, BACON belonged to a grouping of painters including CLOSE, MUNCH, and WHISTLER, while EGG was part of a category of items sold in dozens (along with JUROR, ROSE, and MONTH). Thus, be cautious and ensure that your chosen set of four comprises only those four items before hitting “submit.”

If uncertainty arises, consider examining words that appear to lack a connection to the others. If WHISTLER immediately connects to the famous painting affectionately referred to as “Whistler’s Mother,” it might signal a path to follow. In solving that particular puzzle, investigating the painter named Close became instrumental.

Sometimes the best way to progress is by utilizing helpful hints—this is why these tips are provided each day. Be sure to return for tomorrow’s puzzle!
