Guide to Playing Connections
For a comprehensive overview of the Connections game, refer to my detailed guide. Here’s a brief recap of how to play:
Begin by locating the Connections game on either the New York Times website or their Games app (formerly known as the Crossword app). You’ll encounter a grid of 16 tiles, each containing a word or phrase. Your goal is to identify a set of four tiles that share a commonality. Often, these will be categories (e.g., RAIN, SLEET, HAIL, and SNOW all relate to types of weather), but occasionally there’s a play on words involved (like BUCKET, GUEST, TOP TEN, and WISH, which represent various types of lists).
Choose four items and click the Submit button. If your guess is correct, the category and corresponding color will display (yellow indicates the easiest level, followed by green, blue, and purple). Incorrect guesses will grant you another attempt.
Succeed by identifying all four categories correctly. If four incorrect guesses are made before completion, the game concludes, and answers are revealed.
