Why the Standard PS5 Remains a Strong Choice Despite the Arrival of the PS5 Pro
In a time when the PS5 Pro has taken the spotlight, it’s essential to recognize that the original PS5 still offers substantial value for the majority of gamers. Currently, there are no exclusive titles unique to the upgraded model (and none are anticipated), but the presence of the PS5 Pro does create opportunities for price reductions on the original PS5.
This week, discounts are available on both versions of the PS5 Slim (yes, that’s the preferred name, Sony), and each purchase includes a complimentary copy of Astro Bot. While these deals don’t fall under Amazon’s Big Spring Sale banner, they are certainly noteworthy.
The PS5 Slim, which sports a sleeker appearance compared to the original, provides the same features as its non-Pro counterpart. It is available in two variants: one that supports only digital games and another that accommodates physical discs. Primarily, these Slim models have taken the place of the original PS5 in retail outlets, with the digital variant typically retailing for $450 and the disc version usually priced around $500.
However, during the current promotion, the digital PS5 Slim can be acquired for $399, while the disc-based counterpart is priced at $449. Both editions come bundled with last year’s The Game Awards-winning Astro Bot game at no extra cost. This means these offers are exceptional even without the addition of the free title, effectively saving you $110.
What do you think so far?
One thing to note is that the Slim PS5 models require a unique stand if they are to be placed vertically. Fortunately, this stand is currently available at a discount.
