The Ring Outdoor Cam Plus presents a dynamic security solution for both indoor and outdoor settings. With stunning 2K video capability, this camera operates on a convenient quick-release battery pack, although there’s also a wired alternative available at the same promotional price. Currently, it enjoys a 30% discount for Prime members on Amazon, bringing the price down to just $70, a record low, as tracked by price tracking services.
The impressive 2K video quality is a significant enhancement over 1080p devices, particularly those older Ring models offering only basic black-and-white night vision. As highlighted in a review by PCMag, this camera includes Low-Light Sight technology, which ensures better visibility and color accuracy in dim lighting. Additionally, with a 160° diagonal field of view, it minimizes blind spots in areas such as porches or yards, surpassing older models that typically feature a 143° field of view. The upgraded dual-band Wi-Fi feature provides a more reliable connection compared to previous models that were limited to 2.5GHz.
In contrast to wired outdoor security solutions, the battery-operated quick-release pack gives greater flexibility. This feature allows for easy recharging without having to detach the camera completely or tether it to a constant power source. Be aware, however, that high levels of activity, or frequent live views, may exhaust the battery quicker than expected, with some users indicating that this model consumes more power than other Ring devices. Designed to endure various weather conditions, it features a robust build suitable for mounting on walls, surfaces, or ceilings, though its larger size compared to the Indoor Cams might make it less subtle.
