Before acquiring premium noise-canceling headphones, the Sony WH-CH720N became my choice for an affordable alternative. I utilized these headphones for about a year. They are lighter and more compact compared to Bose QuietComfort or Sony WH-1000XM5, yet they still deliver respectable noise cancellation. This Prime Day, they’re available at nearly 50% off, making the Sony WH-CH720N an exceptional pick for those seeking budget-friendly noise-canceling options under $100.
A standout feature of the Sony WH-CH720N headphones is their impressive battery longevity—Sony asserts up to 35 hours of playback time, a claim I found to be largely accurate. While the audio quality may not reach the same heights as the XM5 or comparable models, the cost savings are significant, being less than half the price of those high-end alternatives. In warmer, more humid regions, the lightweight design and comfort of these headphones are particularly advantageous.
However, one eventual drawback led to the upgrade: the ear pads. The original ear pads are challenging to remove and replace, often leading to concerns about potential damage. If the headphones are used predominantly indoors or in sheltered conditions, the ear pads may last quite a while. But for outdoor usage, a yearly replacement may be necessary.
