The Fascinating Technology Showcase at CES Unveiled 2023
This year’s CES Unveiled presented an impressive array of innovative technology. The event was bustling with various AI-enhanced, automated, and holographic gadgets, showcasing just a snippet of what CES has to offer.
While numerous intriguing and eccentric products were on display, seven innovations stood out as particularly captivating. Some may not be immediately available for purchase, yet the ideas and potential they represent hint at the future trajectory of technology.
ColdSnap

ColdSnap made an impression last year, and its charm remained evident during another visit this time around. This machine functions like a Keurig, but instead of brewing coffee, it dispenses ice cream utilizing flavor-specific single-serve pods.
Initially, skepticism surrounded ColdSnap’s ice-cream-making capabilities, as it seemed hard to believe that this pod system would outperform a traditional pint from the grocery store.
Surprisingly, the ice cream was delightful. I had the bourbon flavor last year and was truly impressed; this year, I sampled the coffee version and felt the same way. The representative informed me that all their flavors are gluten-free, employing certified gluten-free oats—an important detail for individuals with dietary restrictions like celiac disease. This consideration makes enjoying food at a vast event like CES much more accessible, offsetting the machine’s steep price of $3,000.
LOOI

A variety of robots were showcased at Unveiled, many of which sported anthropomorphic features. While most were not particularly captivating, LOOI stood out with its WALL-E inspired design.
What makes LOOI unique is that you don’t buy a traditional robot; instead, you purchase the body and utilize your smartphone as its face. The integration transforms your device into an interactive robot that responds to gestures and even voice commands.
The LOOI app enables various functions, allowing it to display text, graphics, or even a camera view for selfies. Although its practicality might come into question, the concept itself is refreshing and invites curiosity.
E-SKIMO

For those who have experienced riding an e-bike, the exhilaration it offers is unmistakable. Picture that feeling amplified with E-SKIMO’s electric skis, designed to provide assistance while skiing downhill or traversing flat terrain.
The addition of a motor aims to enhance the skiing experience, particularly when navigating long stretches of flat land—a common challenge in skiing. Additionally, these skis are equipped with sensors to track performance metrics, appealing to enthusiasts looking to improve their skills.
It’s important to note that the E-SKIMO showcased at CES is not yet available for consumer purchase; rather, the company is seeking to partner with brands to incorporate the technology into their ski designs.
Electric Salt Spoon

The Electric Salt Spoon, developed by Kirin, drew significant attention for its promise to enhance the flavor of low-sodium meals. The technology purportedly sends a gentle electrical current through food, enhancing the perception of saltiness.
Using the spoon involves scooping food and activating the current with a button, offering four intensity levels for adjusting the taste sensation. While its claims are intriguing, personal testing would be required to confirm its effectiveness—a unique approach to flavor enhancement.
LISSOME R1

LISSOME R1 captured interest as a compact, portable dishwasher. It’s designed to make dishwashing easier and quicker, even claiming to dry items in just 15 minutes—although its AI features might not be the main draw for many. This device would have made life so much more manageable in smaller living spaces.
Aurzen ZIP

Aurzen has introduced a portable 720p projector that, despite its modest resolution and 90-minute battery life, offers impressive portability. The device, when folded, resembles a Game Boy Advance SP, and can project images onto walls or ceilings, creating a versatile viewing experience.
While its resolution may not cater to high-definition movie screenings, the compact design makes it a viable option for impromptu presentations or short shows.
Bodyfriend

Finally, Bodyfriend’s massage chair emerged as a standout attraction, resembling an animated transformer ready to deliver soothing massages. With numerous customization options to target various muscle groups, it may not find a place in every household, but its captivating design surely entertained onlookers.
