WhatsApp Enhances iPhone App with Multi-Account Support
WhatsApp is making significant strides to align its iPhone application with the features available on Android, particularly by introducing the ability to manage multiple accounts from a single device. This new functionality, which has been accessible on Android since 2023, was recently highlighted by WABetaInfo in an update regarding the iPhone app’s latest TestFlight beta.
Once this multi-account feature is officially rolled out, users will enjoy the convenience of switching between different WhatsApp accounts seamlessly without the hassle of juggling multiple devices. This enhancement is particularly beneficial for small business owners who require easy access to various accounts.

One important note is that each WhatsApp account will still need its own unique phone number. Users will either require a phone that supports multiple SIM cards or find another way to obtain an extra phone number. However, recent iPhone models can typically manage up to eight eSIMs while using two phone numbers, which should mitigate this issue. It’s also worth mentioning that WhatsApp already provides a WhatsApp Business app alongside its standard offering, thus enabling iPhone users to run two distinct accounts through separate applications. This forthcoming change promises enhanced flexibility for users.
As per WABetaInfo, there are two methods for setting up multiple WhatsApp accounts on the same device. Users can either establish a new account as a primary one or utilize a QR code to link an additional account as a “companion.” The source confirms that aspects such as notifications, chat histories, and backups will remain separate for each account, suggesting that the method of account creation primarily affects user convenience rather than functionality.
Currently, while WhatsApp’s TestFlight beta program accepts public participants, it is not open for new enrollments at this time. Enthusiastic iPhone users must await the official release to access the multi-account feature. Although WABetaInfo has not provided any updates regarding the timeline for this rollout, those considering acquiring a secondary device exclusively for WhatsApp should likely reconsider their plans for the moment.
