A search for an ideal solar-powered security camera without a subscription has been on the agenda ever since my home was burglarized. I found the perfect match: the Aosu Solar Camera. It is highly recommended for anyone in search of a reliable, easily installed solar camera that offers a full 360-degree view, currently available for an incredible $55.99 (down from $79.99).
This camera ranks among the best tested, and its installation is straightforward. A simple wall or column mount using screws does the trick. Optimal placement allows it to receive direct sunlight, and mine has never run out of battery, even during Atlanta’s winters. It can operate in the absence of direct sunlight, albeit at a slower battery charging rate. Though the solar panel’s position cannot be altered post-installation, the camera’s 360-degree rotation ensures placement isn’t overly crucial.
The app associated with this camera is the most responsive I’ve experienced, outperforming others from Reolink, Eufy, and Lorex. This camera includes impressive features such as human tracking, allowing it to focus on and follow individuals within view. At night, it captures footage in 2K resolution. There’s no ongoing subscription cost, but an SD card is necessary for storage. With an IP65 weatherproof rating, it also integrates seamlessly with Alexa and Google Assistant. The camera can be configured to send alarms and incorporates a movement-activated spotlight, which, while not excessively bright, is sufficient to discourage intruders on a small porch at night.
