Wordle Solution and Tips for February 19, 2025

For those seeking the Wordle answer for February 19, 2025, you’ve come to the right place. In this post, clues, advice, and strategies will be shared, culminating in the solution. The challenge today is of medium difficulty; I was able to solve it in four attempts. Heads up! Spoilers ahead for Wordle #1,341! Continue below if you’re in need of hints (followed by the answer) for today’s puzzle.

Understanding How to Play Wordle

Wordle can be found here on the New York Times website. A fresh puzzle is made available every day at midnight in your local time zone.

Begin by guessing a word that consists of five letters. The chosen letters will change color: green for correct letters in their correct positions, yellow for correct letters in the wrong spots, and gray for letters not present in the hidden word. For additional guidance, refer to this playing guide and these advanced tips. (More info can be found at the end of this post once the hints and solutions are provided.)

Feeling ready for some hints? Let’s dive in!

Does Today’s Wordle Include Any Rare Letters?

Common letters can be defined using the historical typesetting sequence known as ETAOIN SHRDLU. (Remember this phrase! You might imagine it as a name, “Edwin Shirdloo,” as if he’s someone you know.)

Today, there are three common letters from our mnemonic, with one being quite frequent and another a bit less so.

Can You Provide a Hint for This Wordle?

Certainly! Consider its theme.

Are There Any Repeated Letters in Today’s Wordle?

The solution contains one vowel and one letter that can occasionally serve as a vowel.

What Letter Does Today’s Wordle Begin With?

What Letter Does Today’s Wordle End With?

What’s the Solution for Today’s Wordle?

Here it is: today’s word is MADLY.

My Approach to Solving Today’s Wordle

Yesterday’s Wordle Solution

Yesterday’s challenge was of medium difficulty. The hint indicated “a type of film, for example,” and the answer consisted of five frequently used letters.

The solution for yesterday’s Wordle was INDIE.

A Quick Overview of Wordle Basics

The objective of Wordle is to deduce the secret word of the day. Upon launching the game, players will encounter an empty grid. It’s your turn to make the initial move by entering any five-letter word.

Utilize the color hints that appear to discern the correct word: Green signifies an accurate letter in the right spot. (For instance, guessing PARTY when the intended word is PURSE will result in P and R turning green.)

  • Yellow indicates the letter is present in the word, albeit in a different position. (For instance, if PARTY is guessed but the actual word is ROAST, then R, A, and T will turn yellow.)
  • Gray denotes that the letter does not belong in the solution word at all. (If PARTY yields all gray tiles, then it cannot be either PURSE or ROAST.)

With this knowledge, continue guessing additional words while aiming to identify the correct one before exhausting your chances. You have a total of six guesses, after which the game concludes.

Ideal Starter Words for Wordle

What should you use as your first guess? The most effective starter words generally include common letters, enhancing the likelihood of obtaining yellow and green squares to direct your subsequent guesses. (Even if you receive all gray indicators from common letters, that’s still valuable information to help eliminate options.) Although there isn’t an absolute “best” starting word, suggestions from the New York Times’s Wordle analysis tool recommend the following:

  • CRANE
  • TRACE
  • SLANT
  • CRATE
  • CARTE

Furthermore, an MIT analysis discovered that starting with the following words maximizes potential word elimination in the first round:

  • SALET
  • REAST
  • TRACE
  • CRATE
  • SLATE

Noteworthy alternatives include ARISE or ROUND. While words like ADIEU and AUDIO bring more vowels into the mix, a focus on consonants, using words like RENTS or CLAMP, might be preferable initially. Choose a strategy and observe its effectiveness.

Winning Strategies for Wordle

For those deeply interested in Wordle strategy, several guides are available to read through. This guide discusses leveraging consonants, whereas this one outlines a approach centered around the most commonly used letters. An advanced guide presents a three-step method for gathering hints while increasing your chances of a quick win.

The primary distinction between Wordle victors and those who struggle is that winners effectively utilize their guesses to gain insight into the letters within the word. For example, if you identify that the word ends with -OUND, do not squander guesses on MOUND, ROUND, SOUND, and HOUND; instead, combine those consonants to propose MARSH. If the H shows as yellow, crucial information has been gathered.

It’s also worth mentioning that the original version of Wordle relied on a set list of around 2,300 solution words; however, after its acquisition by the NYT, an editor now selects solution words. Consequently, some words might be slightly more challenging than those from the original set, while others could relate to current events or themes. For instance, FEAST was resolved during one Thanksgiving. Thus, themes may sometimes influence the selections.

Alternatives to Wordle

For enthusiasts of five-letter guessing games, a selection of amazing alternatives to Wordle can be explored, sorted by difficulty:

  • Wheeldle allows you to tackle one puzzle after another.
  • Dordle and Quordle challenge you to solve two (Dordle) or four (Quordle) puzzles simultaneously, utilizing the same guesses. There is also Octordle for eight puzzles, and Sedecordle for 16.
  • Waffle offers a unique twist by presenting several five-letter words in a grid format; you swap letters until you find the right combinations.
  • Absurdle is a dynamic game that adapts its solution after each guess, though it remains consistent with prior feedback, requiring strategic thinking to corner it until only one word remains.
  • Squabble allows you to compete against others in Wordle with a timer; taking too long incurs damage, and the last player standing wins.
  • Antiwordle flips the premise on its head; you aim to avoid guessing the day’s answer while needing to repeat letters you mistakenly identified as correct, meaning that the longer it takes you, the better strategist you are.

Enjoy the challenge and happy guessing!
