Gboard’s New Emoji Menu: A Streamlined Experience
The Gboard interface is packed with features, making it seem overwhelming at times. In addition to the keyboard itself, users have access to a myriad of options through a customizable toolbar situated above the keyboard. This complexity extends to the Emoji keyboard as well, though significant changes are on the horizon thanks to Google.
Google has begun rolling out a beta version of a fresh design for the Emoji menu, aimed at enhancing usability with a clearer layout based on sensible categorization. The former “All” screen, which displayed recently used emojis, personalized Emoji Kitchen stickers, and GIFs in a long, confusing list, has been eliminated. With a simple sign-up process, users can explore this new interface without delay.

How to Access the Updated Emoji Layout
The revamped Gboard layout is currently in beta for Android users, although iOS users are not included in this beta. To participate, visit the Gboard beta page and select Join as Tester. Following registration, check the Play Store on your Android device for Gboard updates. Once updated, the new Emoji features will be available for use.
Navigating the New Emoji Layout
The revamped Emoji tab now opens immediately when tapping Gboard’s Emoji button, instead of the previous All screen. Users can easily switch between tabs like GIFs and Stickers with a quick tap. To return to the keyboard, either press the Back icon or select the “ABC” button located within the tab bar.

The Kaomoji tab is designed for those who prefer text-based emojis, serving as an alternative to graphical options. In contrast, the Bitmoji tab is functional only for users who have already installed and set up their Bitmoji avatars.
