Introducing the Samsung Galaxy S25 Series: A Comprehensive Comparison
The Samsung Galaxy S25 series has officially launched, featuring the Galaxy S25, Galaxy S25+, and Galaxy S25 Ultra models. These new devices replace the previously released Galaxy S24 lineup that debuted in January 2024, which can be reviewed in our Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra review for a refresher on the earlier models.
A common inquiry that arises with each new smartphone release is how they stack up against their predecessors. This article provides a detailed comparison of the Galaxy S25 series against the Galaxy S24 series, focusing on crucial aspects such as battery capacity, display features, and overall dimensions.
Display Features and Dimensions
The Galaxy S25 is equipped with a 6.2-inch Dynamic AMOLED display boasting a resolution of 2340 x 1080 pixels. Its dimensions are 146.9 x 70.5 x 7.2 mm, and it weighs 162 grams. This display specification is identical to that of the Galaxy S24, although the previous model is marginally thicker at 7.6 mm and slightly heavier at 167 grams.
Turning to the Galaxy S25+, it features a 6.7-inch Dynamic AMOLED screen with a resolution of 3120 x 1440 pixels, measuring 158.4 x 75.8 x 7.3 mm and weighing in at 190 grams. Once again, the screen specifications remain unchanged from its predecessor, the S24 Plus, which is a bit bulkier at 7.7 mm and heavier at 196 grams.
The top-tier Galaxy S25 Ultra showcases a 6.9-inch Dynamic AMOLED display with the same resolution of 3120 x 1440 pixels, with overall dimensions of 162.8 x 77.6 x 8.2 mm and a weight of 218 grams. In contrast, the Galaxy S24 Ultra has a smaller 6.8-inch display yet carries a heavier weight of 232 grams, alongside being thicker at 8.6 mm.
Color Options and Design Elements
The Galaxy S25 and S25+ are available in a selection of colors including Silver Shadow, Navy, Icy Blue, and Mint. While these choices are appealing, they fall short of the more vibrant options offered by the Galaxy S24 series, which included Onyx Black, Marble Gray, and several others. Samsung may introduce additional hues in the future.
The Galaxy S25 Ultra comes in colors such as Titanium Black, Titanium Gray, Titanium Whitesilver, and Titanium Silverblue. The previous Galaxy S24 Ultra offered more color combinations, but further releases may enhance the current palette.
From a design perspective, the new models maintain a familiar aesthetic, though the camera lens area has been revamped to resemble the style seen in the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6. The S25 Ultra adopts a slightly modified appearance, featuring more rounded corners than its predecessor, which gives it a more streamlined profile.

Core Internal Specifications
All variants of the Galaxy S25 series are powered by the latest Snapdragon 8 Elite processor, representing a significant upgrade over the Galaxy S24 models. The 2024 versions utilize a combination of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 and Samsung’s Exynos 2400, depending on the region of sale.
Each Galaxy S25 device comes equipped with a standard 12GB of RAM, with options of 128GB or 256GB for the standard S25, and 256GB or 512GB for both the S25 Plus and S25 Ultra. Notably, the main difference compared to the previous models lies in the RAM, with the Galaxy S24 containing only 8GB.
The battery capacities for the S25 devices remain consistent with the S24 lineup: a robust 4,000 mAh for the standard model, 4,900 mAh for the Plus, and 5,000 mAh for the Ultra. Charging speeds have also been preserved, allowing for 25W wired charging for the standard and 45W for the Plus and Ultra variations.
Camera Capabilities
The camera system of the Galaxy S25 and S25 Plus features a 50MP main sensor, a 12MP ultra-wide lens, and a 10MP telephoto camera with a 3x optical zoom. This setup remains consistent with the hardware found in the outgoing Galaxy S24 series, though additional software may enhance performance in the newer models.
On the other hand, the S25 Ultra is equipped with a more advanced camera array, including a 200MP main sensor, a 50MP ultra-wide lens, and two telephoto lenses: one with 3x optical zoom and another with 5x optical zoom. The only variation from the Galaxy S24 Ultra is the ultra-wide camera which is 12MP in the earlier model.
For selfies, each of the Galaxy S25 devices includes a 12MP front-facing camera, matching the previous generation. The S25 Ultra, however, benefits from autofocus on its selfie shooter. Overall, the camera specifications show minimal differences between the 2024 and 2025 models, aside from the enhanced Snapdragon 8 Elite processor driving the performance.
