WWDC 2025: Highlights and Key Announcements
After months of anticipation and speculation, WWDC 2025 has finally arrived. The week is filled with engaging activities, but the headline event—the keynote—has concluded, showcasing a plethora of updates. It was an opportunity to verify which leaks were accurate and which ones missed the mark entirely.
One of the most significant changes revealed was the rebranding of iOS 19 to iOS 26, which also brought a new naming convention for all operating systems under the “26” banner. Users eager to experience these updates, such as iOS 26 and macOS Tahoe, can get started now, although waiting until July for the public beta is advisable. Notably, the introduction of “Liquid Glass“, a fresh design aesthetic affecting all Apple platforms, was a highlight.
While the much-anticipated revamp of Siri with AI capabilities didn’t materialize, the presentation did reveal several exciting features. These include live translation, an updated Camera app, spam detection in Messages, and call screening features. The visual intelligence now extends to analyzing content on your iPhone screen alongside the camera feed. Unexpectedly, there are also new features for AirPods that caught many off guard, along with a variety of iOS features that received little mention during the keynote.
Some speculated features, however, didn’t make the cut. There was no desktop mode for iPhone, nor was there an simplified method for signing into public Wi-Fi across multiple devices. Nonetheless, overall, many predictions turned out to be accurate.
